Beyond Microprocessor Feet: Understanding All Your Options to Improve Gait
This course is designed for practitioners interested in learning about the latest microprocessor and powered foot technology for their lower limb patients. The course will review microprocessor feet, including the Empower, the Meridium, and the Triton Smart Ankle foot for the transtibial and transfemoral user. An overview of the features, benefits, alignment, programming and training that users need to optimize outcomes will be covered in this course. If available, there will be a live demonstration of the Empower foot.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course the participants will be able to:
- Differentiate between the features and benefits provided by the Empower, Meridium, and Triton Smart Ankle MPF versus other MPF mechanisms.
- Describe the alignment procedures.
- Identify the critical steps in programming the feet.
- Perform the appropriate adjustments to each MPF for successful fitting.
- Instruct the patient and physical therapist on the basic training steps necessary for successful ambulation.

Cale Konetchy, CP
Cale Konetchy is an ABC certified prosthetist who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire with a B.S. in Biology in 1998. He earned his prosthetics certificate from Century College in White Bear Lake, MN in May of 2002. After graduation, Cale spent seven years working in direct patient care to include managing a private orthotic and prosthetic clinic in Woodbury, MN. Cale has been working for Ottobock since 2008 teaching courses on lower extremity prosthetics in hospitals, clinics, and universities throughout the United States. Cale’s daily goal is to facilitate the best possible prosthetic outcomes for our customers and their end users.
Credits:
- 4 (s) ABC CEUs
- *Category I credits will be granted to certified prosthetists, prosthetics assistants, and prosthetic technicians. Category II credits will be granted to those not identified.
